The Prescott Project is a multiple home development. The developer/client initially sought out both prefabricated and traditional site built construction options but local regulations required the construction of significant retaining walls to shelter and elevate the homes out of a flood zone.
ASUL proposed constructing their standard steel moment frame, resting on concrete caissons ranging in depth from 5 to 14-feet. This option efficiently elevated the entire structure out of the flood zone, eliminating the need for retaining walls. This solution was possible due to the unusual structural capabilities of the steel moment frame.
